In the latest sign of a thirst for deals amid a new mood of caution, Japanese beer giant Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. said on Friday that it was considering the purchase of Japanese soft-drinks maker Calpis Co., reportedly for ?100 billion ($1.2 billion). Earlier this year, Asahi had looked into buying Czech brewer StarBev, according to people familiar with the matter, but decided against it.
